Last Panel Discussion
Monday, October 5th, 2009
4:15pm
The seventh, and last, panel discussion consists of:
1. Sarah Ross – NEET Co-ordinator of Connexions Manchester
2. Councillor Sue Murphy -Executive Member for Employment and Skills and Lead Member for Women, Manchester City Council
3. Lyndy Geddes – Skills Policy for Manchester City Council
4. Bushra Jami – Principal Economic Development Officer, Manchester City Council
NOISE: What are the techniques that you used to engage the young people that aren’t a part of the formal education system?
Sarah: The most important aspect is to understand the national compared to the local picture. Sometimes, things that affect other parts of the country don’t affect Manchester, so its always good to look more locally. Its also about actually understanding the people who are doing the learning. If somebody is engaged in a positive exercise, even if its informal learning, its beneficial to that person.
